Rat-a-tat
Here’s a friend of mine. He makes sure I get up in the morning! Especially at this time of the year. Early Spring. You see, he marks his territory now. He does this by tapping out loudly on various things, to say, this is mine. Well, the one particular place is the metal cap on our chimney! Rat-a-tat, Rat-a-tat!! Seven a.m.! When he starts to tap, there’s no sleeping. My friend!

Ruth, and there’s no getting away from it. My wife like to bang on the fireplace, but it doesn’t care!

What a beautiful flicker! I agree they are so noisy though. I remember one spring I was staying in Jasper, and one of these was laughing hysterically from a telegraph pole just outside my cabin every single morning.

Adele, they are almost as raucous as Jays! Nice to hear from you!
