As promised, here is the male of the species to yesterdays post. The Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus.) They are quite shy and will take flight at any noise.

He is beautiful. I don’t know much about this bird.Does it have as pretty a song as the Rose-breasted Grosbeak has?

Have you seen this bird in previous years? just wondering because a pair has been at my feeder on Vancouver Island for a few days and this is the first time I have seen them.

Vickie, yes, this pair have been with us for about five years now! They show up around this time every year! I really like seeing them!
