In for a Bath
Here’s a special visitor to our birdbath. Listed as Rare in this area, this Western Scrub Jay ( Aphelocoma californica) quite enjoyed its bath! Time for some suet and it was off again. We had it here a couple of time this past summer and I’m very pleased to see it back. Known to hang out around the Aldergrove Athletic Park. We are only a couple of houses from there!
Rare bird, it is swimming in bird bath, beautiful photo.

It is so good that you also got a picture of this bird. When a rarity shows up, that is so special.

Ruth, thank you! When this bird first appeared in the summer, my wife saw it first. Lucky for me it came back the next day. I attempted to get a shot, which would have been a good one, but All, ALL of my settings were off and all I got was a blue blob! So, I’ve waited all summer for it to come back, and it finally did. I was sure of my shots and settings this time and was pleased to get some half decent shots! Phew!
