Absolutely beautiful bird, we call it the Sparrowhawk, well done.

Bob, Thank you! Yes, it’s just the same as the Sparrowhawk! In fact it even eats the same thing! My poor little birds!

He is a beautiful bird, but those talons look deadly. I have one visiting my yard occasionally and I really don’t like to see the smaller bird chased away, or worse, be eaten.

Ruth, Thank you! He is quite a hunter. I’m not sure how successful he is around our yard. I’ve never seen any evidence. But I’m sure he’s getting something to eat! He was just here again. Chased a Junco into our patio door. Thankfully he didn’t get it and flew off. I picked up the Junco and held it for a bit and after a few minutes it flew off!
