In the Wind

IMG_6630.jpg

Here’s a Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) having a bad hair day, thanks to the wind! It’s sitting in our Empress tree. The brown objects are flower buds which have been on the tree all winter and will soon bloom in lovely purple flowers!

Proud Pose

A White-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia leucophrys) perched on the top branch of a Jasmine bush in our backyard. We have had these guys in the yard all winter. In the last week or so their crowns have changed from a first winter brown to the adult white and black! They are all still here, at least 10 of them and they are all proud as punch

Flicker

A Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) female. I’m glad to see this female around. She been away. Maybe now the male, her mate, will quite banging on our chimney!

Live Sunshine

IMG_6478.jpg

On a gloomy very wet morning this male American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis) in his bright breeding plumage, brightened my day!

Robin by Robin

An American Robin (Turdus migratorius) on the edge of our driveway, listening for lunch in the lawn.

Alone

Generally always in a bunch, this Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) was in the middle of a field all by itself. Maybe waiting for it’s boy/girl friend!
