Goldie
A dominant American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis) male perched on a branch. I say dominant becuase he spends half his day chasing away other Goldies from the feeders in our yard!
Pretty in Purple
A Purple Finch (Carpodacus purpureus) This little guy is a male and he is this years fledgling. See the baby mouth!
Sad in the Rain
Here’s another LBJ (little brown job) all puffed up against the cold wet weather. This time a Pine Siskin, looks quite displeased with the whole issue. Never mind, it’s getting warmer later this week!
I See You
A female House Finch. This little bird in this years fledgling. Despite the weather she seems to be doing quite well. One can tell the age by the beak. See the yellow at the back of the beak? That’s from when she was a baby and she use to open her beak very wide so Mum would feed her!
Against the Cold
This male American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis) perched in the bushes all puffed up against the cold and rain.
