A pretty male Northern FlickerĀ (Colaptes auratus) red shaft, perched on the edge of our bird bath just after he had a drink!

A Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) female. I’m glad to see this female around. She been away. Maybe now the male, her mate, will quite banging on our chimney!

A Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) Yellow shafted, keeps and eye on the Starlings. They have a constant battle as to who’s going to dominate the suet feeder.


Gloomy Days Dreamy Days

It seems as January progresses we have been enveloped in the gloomies. Natural light has been non-existant, almost! Here’s a dreamy version of a Red Shafted Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) high in the Maple tree.
