The Bane…

…to photography! There’s always that branch or that powerline or whatever, in the way. This beauty was quite a ways away from me, and I used full zoom on my P900 and didn’t see the branch. If I would I would have moved down a wee bit and maybe got rid of the branch. Anyway, here’s a beautiful Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) in all it’s splendor!

A New Visitor

Yesterday, this fine fellow showed up in our yard. It’s a lifer for me and I was quite happy to see this Common Redpoll (Acanthis flammea). It was here again today and spent most of the day here. Seeing it’s usaully a flock bird, I’m thinking this one got blown of track with the weather.

In the Rain

A lovely female House Finch (Carpodacus mexicanus) sitting on a branch of the Rose of Sharon bush in the rain. I feel much better for the birds now the temperature is back above 0 and the ice is gone!

In the Main Stream

A little way down our street there is a number of Hawthorne trees, which are full of berries! They have been frozen, but are now thawing out. This has attracted a flock of American Robins (Turdus migratorius) like these two. The female is on the right. We counted about 30 birds. They were eating berries and drinking water from the stream along the curb!

A Pretty Pair
