Teal on Ice
A pair of Green-winged Teal (Anas crecca) have a bit of a struggle on the very thin ice, falling through a couple of times!
All My Ducks in a Row
Here’s Eight Mallards (Anas platyrhychos), four pair, four male, four females. All were asleep with their heads down. Something made a noise and all the males popped up. Females weren’t bothered and kept sleeping! Who has their priorities right!
Looking to the Future
A drake Mallard (Anas platyrhychos) looks out across the water of Mill Lake. I’m always amazed how that Green head can change colour in the light!
Bigfoot
An American Coot ( Fulica americana) scratching around in the undergrowth at the edge of Mill Lake. The size of the Coots feet always amazes me!
On High
A Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) sits at the top of it’s nest tree surveying the mountain side as the clouds brush past the high ridge.
All That I Can See
A Glaucous-winged Gull (Larus glaucescens) surveying all it sees on it’s favourite perch, a old stump, in Mill Lake.
A Trio
A trio of drake Buffleheads (Bucephala albeola) hanging out with a group of mixed ducks at Mill Lake in Abbotsford. I really like the action and different colours of the water in this shot!
