A hen Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula). This head forward behaviour is a response to a males courtship display.


Anything But Common

A Common Goldeneye give me a stern look.  I think this duck is anything but common, with his bright black and white markings and that striking gold eye!

A female Common Goldeneye.  I’m sure this low down attitude in the water is indicative of something, but I don’t know what!
