Fish for Lunch Too

DSCN1249.jpg

Here’s another Eagle shot. This one an immature Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) with a lovely dead Salmon for lunch. This guy will be White by next year. You can just see the white coming in around it’s bill, which will also turn colour as it ages!

A immature Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus) takens advantage of a saucer full of Niger seed in our garden. We have been watching this bird grow up all summer. It is finally beginning to look like a Towhee!

Confused

IMG_8859.jpg

An Immature male Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus) flew in a couple of days ago. He is still looking quite confused as to what he’s supposed to do. Usually when he flies in, the little bird fly away and leave him to guess at his next move. He’ll soon catch on!

I See You

DSCN0085.jpg

A female House Finch.  This little bird in this years fledgling.  Despite the weather she seems to be doing quite well.  One can tell the age by the beak.  See the yellow at the back of the beak?  That’s from when she was a baby and she use to open her beak very wide so Mum would feed her!

30 Grams

A pretty immature White-Crowned Sparrow.  Yes, he weighs about 30 grams and lives to the ripe old age of 13!  It doesn’t get it’s white crown for a couple of years.

Amaxing!
