Anna’s Hummer
It seems our Hummers have been absent for a little while. Maybe off having babies! But, they are back and I’m happy to see them. This is a female Anna’s Hummingbird (Calypte anna)
High Key Sparrow
Here in high key is a White-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia leucophrys) perched in our front yard Japanese Maple.
Singing
A Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia) perched in a Japanese Maple was singing it’s heart out! A great way to start the day!

In the Maple
Early this morning a bunch of birds were perched in the branches of our Japanese Maple in our front yard. Here’s one of them, a Golden-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia atricapilla) This bird is a westerner. It ranges from Alaska to Baja. This one is considered a first winter bird. It’s also all puffed up due to the fact that the temperature was Minus 4 C.

Ice is the word today! After a night of freezing rain this American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis) seems a little put out by it all! Can’t say I blame him!

Here’s another American Robin.
Today, it’s snowing again! This forlorne Robin (Turdus migratorius) was sitting in the Japanese Maple tree in our front yard. It really did look quite lost, sitting there giving off the occasional tweet. Maybe got home a little soon!
