What does a little bird think when it’s sitting wet and cold on the first day of it’s life when it’s rained! I think this little House Sparrows (Passer domesticus) expression says it all!

A New One

A brand new visitor to our bird bath. A fledgling European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) This guy is probably only a week or so old. Once they get going they grow very fast.

Twins

Two House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) fleglings have developed a taste for Millet. Seems that what one did the other followed!

Bath Time

A European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) on the bird bath. These guys are nuts about bathing. They get in and have a great old splash around, then hurry away, wings heavy with water!

Spence

A change for today.  Spencer, the Bassett Hound is a strong believer in the adage that one has to stop and smell the flowers.  If fact, he stops and smells everything!

Corn, Anyone!

A male Brewer’s Blackbird (Euphagus cyanocephalus) on a fence post.

In For Millet

DSCN4125.jpg

A Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus) drops into our yard from a nearby Cedar tree to enjoy the Millet that we put out for the birds. He’s a very handsome fellow!
