A Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri). Like most Corvids these birds are very intelligent and curious. Nothing goes unnoticed in the yard. Something new will be checked out within minutes! I was about 2 meters from this one!

Here’s another shot of our old friend Scruffy the Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) It was in fine form today!  Just raring for peanuts.  It puts up quite a fuss when ignored!

In the Wind

Here’s a Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) having a bad hair day, thanks to the wind! It’s sitting in our Empress tree. The brown objects are flower buds which have been on the tree all winter and will soon bloom in lovely purple flowers!

Here’s Scruffy. A Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) Like all Jays, it is a rascal. Here it’s in the Fuchsia flower pot hanging on our deck, right over there by the hummingbird feeder. It’s hiding peanuts there. Trying to be stealthfull, it’s anything but!

Spot of Tea

Here’s our buddy the juvenile Stellar’s Jay (Calypte anna), in for a spot of Tea!  My wife has set several cups and saucers around the yard. They are on posts. Some have water in them, some have seed! The birds seem to enjoy them as there’s always someone on them!

The Rascal

A Stellar’s Jay (Calypte anna). This guy is the peanut bandit.  These guys have been prominent in my post lately.  Sorry, but I just can help it.  I love them.  They are such characters!

Another Stellar’s

Here’s my buddy the Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) with todays antics. I was sitting on our deck this morning. This juvenile Jay was snooping around in the trees. We put several peanuts on the rail of the deck. Within minutes it was on the rail and away with the peanuts! At the time I was sitting on the deck about 8 feet away! I love these guys!

Here’s a cheeky young Stellar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) trying it’s hardest to figure out how to get the peanuts out of the holder. One of it’s parents brought it over and introducted it to the ring feeder. It finally got a peanut and few off happy!

Another proud Stallar’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) This one has a wonderful crest that it’s very proud of.
